We were recently alerted by one of our team members to a mum and her kittens living in a garden in Penistone. The kittens were already older and very fearful of humans, and there was real concern that mum may already be pregnant again. With the kittens becoming harder to help by the day and in the middle of winter with sub-zero temperatures, we knew it was crucial to act immediately.
Enter our incredible Super Trapper
She has put in more hours than we can even count, working in freezing overnight conditions, often completely alone. While she did have some support from team members, she has done the vast majority of the legwork herself — including driving a huge number of miles — all to give these cats a chance.
And we are so pleased to report… mission accomplished!
Not only has mum been trapped along with her four kittens, but Dad too. This was a colony waiting to happen, and because we acted fast, we stopped it in its tracks.
Freddie (Dad) now neutered and chipped is being cared for by the feeder
Strudel (Mum) is safe spayed and chipped and waiting for a home of her own
The kittens — Hip Hip, Hooray, Hop Hop and Murray — are now safe and beginning the taming process
This is exactly why what we do matters. Early intervention saves lives and prevents endless suffering.
Thank you to everyone who supports us and helps us Save a Stray
