How to create a fundraiser on facebook:
On mobile (Facebook app):
- Tap the menu (three lines)
- Tap Fundraisers
- Tap Raise Money
- Select Nonprofit/Charity
- Search for Save a Stray and select them
- Set your goal, end date, and write a personal message
- Tap Create
On desktop:
- Go to facebook.com/fundraisers
- Click Raise Money
- Select Nonprofit/Charity
- Search for Save a Stray and select them
- Fill in your goal, end date, and cover photo
- Click Create
A few tips to make it perform well:
Write a personal story about why you support Save a Stray — it makes a big difference to conversion
Set a realistic but stretchy goal (it shows progress, which motivates donors)
Share it as a post straight away rather than waiting for people to find it
Post an update mid-way through to re-engage people who saw it but didn’t donate
Facebook notifies your friends on your birthday, so timing the launch a day or two before works well
Facebook covers the processing fees on birthday fundraisers, so 100% of donations go to the charity — worth mentioning when you promote it!
