Help Save The Strays

Our Mission
Save a Stray exists to help and protect, unloved stray and homeless cats living without care in our communities.
Since 2019, we have been supporting the public to improve the life of cats and kittens in need across Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield, Barnsley, and surrounding areas.
We provide essential care, protection, and veterinary treatment, and wherever possible, we find suitable, safe and loving homes. We also work to educate the public on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
We are passionately committed to proactive neutering as a vital part of reducing the stray cat population, to prevent further unnecessary suffering.
Donate Today
Save a Stray charity is entirely funded by donations from the public. We receive no government funding, no ongoing statutory support, and to date no grant funding.
Our veterinary bills alone are over £60,000 a year (and rising), covering emergency care, neutering, testing, microchipping, and treatment for injured or chronically ill cats.
Feeding one cat costs around £1 a day, (for basic food) meaning food alone costs over £40 per cat during their stay. Each cat will stay in our care for an average of five weeks. Each year, we will spend an average of £6,000 on food and then there is the cost of litter – which every foster home needs. The cost is endless.
Every donation helps us continue this vital work — without your support, we simply could not help these poorly homeless cats like we do.
We need you so much and thank you for being there for them.

What We Do
Rescue
We rescue injured, sick, abandoned and vulnerable cats who have nowhere else to turn.
Last year, our volunteer-run charity saved 304 cats and gave them a second chance.
Care
Every cat in our care is treated with compassion and dignity, whatever their age, health or needs. We provide foster homes, veterinary treatment and ongoing support until each cat is ready for the right forever home.
Rehome
We carefully match each cat with a home that suits their personality, needs and lifestyle, working closely with foster carers and adopters. Our supported adoption process ensures every cat starts their next chapter in the right forever home.
Education
We offer practical advice and support to help people understand their cats’ needs and make informed, responsible choices. By promoting good welfare and neutering, we help prevent problems before cats ever need rescue.
